Crunch Time @ 9 Workshops at E.S. Bird Library

Syracuse University Library is offering a special series of open
research workshops, timed to coincide with the start of the busy, end of
term research and study season. These "Crunch Time at 9" sessions offer
students an opportunity to get a little extra personalized help from a
librarian for final papers and research projects. Sessions take place:
March 27 9:00 -10:30 p.m.

March 28 4:00 -5:30 p.m. & 9:00 -10:30 p.m.

April 4 9:00 -10:30 p.m.

Location: Electronic Training Center, Room 046 (lower level),
E.S. Bird Library.

No advance registration is necessary. Drop in when
you can, stay as long as you need.

Library to add e-subscription to Economist's Voice

The Public Admin Librarian is initiating a new subscription to the e-journal from Berkeley Electronic Press entitled, The Economist's Voice. One of the models of university centered, professional journal publication at affordable subscription rates, this title has recently been requested by several faculty members in SU's Department of Public Administration. Once activated later this semester, it will be accessible via SU Library's SUMMIT Catalog and via the E-Journal Locator at the SU Library website.

Library Lock In II: It Was a Dark and Brainy Night at Bird Library

The Office of Residence Life and Syracuse University Library will be co-sponsoring the second annual Library Lock-In: “It was a Dark and Brainy Night at Bird Library,” on Friday, February 23 from 10p.m. until 2a.m. at Bird Library. Up to 120 students will be competing in teams of two to answer questions using resources located in Bird Library. During the breaks there will be prize drawings, food, and games. The grand prize is a gift certificate for each team member to the SU Bookstore for $275. Second place is a gift certificate for each team member to the Carousel Mall for $100, and third place is a gift certificate for each team member to Best Buy for $50.

The registration fee for each team is $5.00 per person or $10.00 per team. Registration packets can be picked up at all residence hall main desks and should be returned to the Office of Residence Life, 111 Waverly Avenue, Suite 200 by February 19. The event is open to all students who live on campus.

Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to volunteer for the event and can contact Kristen Samec, residence director at kesamec@syr.edu by February 16.
